Details emerge on Magnetic Hill country weekend; August 18th; Taylor Swift?; Double announcement in two weeks?

As Bruce says “You can’t start a fire without a spark”, it turns out that Magnetic Hill may make the “Sparks Fly” this August 18th.

Sources close to Atlantic Canada Rocks have hinted that country superstar Taylor Swift may be set to headline the Magnetic Hill Music Festival Country Weekend on August 18th, just one week before Bruce Springsteen rocks the stage on August 26th.

Swift has spent the better part of the last two years touring in support of her latest record “Speak Now”. Prior to the Moncton date, Taylor has a festival date scheduled for Capital Hoedown on August 11th.

It is expected that up to 60,000 could turn up for the gig. Last time Taylor played Atlantic Canada, she brought 35,000 to the Cavendish Beach Music Festival. The smaller venue, as well as less accommodations may have had an effect on attendance.

As with the rock weekend, hotels already appear to be putting increased rates and two night stay caps in place.

Sources have further indicated that a double announcement of the ROCK and COUNTRY weekends could take place within two weeks, following the ECMA’s which take place in Moncton this week.

This information firms up with reports that Magnetic Hill may be looking to host up to three shows in 2012.

Stay tuned…
