Fans have been talking about the potential for The HIP to play the Moncton Casino on June 28th for over two weeks.
I am pleased to confirm that one of the greatest Canadian bands of all time will indeed be hitting the Moncton stage on June 28th, 2011.
The show will be taking place at Casino NB in Moncton. Gates open at 7pm with the boys hitting the stage at 8pm.
The General on-sale for Tickets will begin Friday, May 6th at 10am ADT. Tickets will be available at www.CasinoNB.ca or Ticket Call Centre 1.866.9.GET-TIX / 1.866.943.8849.
There will also be a special presale opportunity for members of thehip.com on May 4th. All users who register before 11:59PM on May 3rd will be eligible to participate.
Tickets will cost $69.50.
The show will be all ages, general admission and standing room only.
A show like this in Moncton should not be missed, seeing The Hip in a small, intimate setting will only add to the amazing experience the band’s live shows truly are.
While it’s unclear at this point if there will be more East coast dates added to the band’s itinerary, fans are speculating that Moncton will indeed be the sole Atlantic Canadian date on the tour.
Other dates on their summer tour include cities such as Montreal, Bobcaygeon, Edmonton and Vancouver.
Many East Coast fans are hoping for another East Coast date. We still await an announcement regarding the FredRock Festival lineup.
The festival will be announced on Thursday, May 5th and is said to feature acts such as The Sam Roberts Band, Wilco and Tea Party. While the Hip is not mentioned, FredRock seems like a festival they should play. The guys won’t be available during the Charlottetown SummerFest and Citadel Hill in Halifax is very likely to be booked by Metallica.
In recent interviews, various band members have stated that they hope to release a new record before the end of the year, possibly produced by the Hip’s own Gord Sinclair.
One can assume that upon the record’s completion, there will be touring in support of it.
The last time The Hip played Atlantic Canada was in July, 2009 at Mile One Stadium in St. Johns NFLD, just two days before what would have been an appearance at Virgin Festival in Halifax, but the band pulled out due to a family medical issue.
Will you be attending the Moncton Show? Should The HIP play FredRock this summer?
