Charlottetown SummerFest taking place June 30th-July 2nd 2011!

The Charlottetown SummerFest (formerly Festival of Lights) has announced via their Facebook Page that the 2011 festivities will take place June 30th-July 2nd.

As you can expect, there will be fireworks, great food, face-painting for the kids and of course, a big rock concert to take place on the Historic Charlottetown Waterfront.

There was supposed to be another Cirque Du Soleil event, however, the city and organizers terminated the three year contract in December.

If that means more rock concerts, I’m content with the fact that Cirque Du Soliel will not be there this year.

This event has seen acts such as The Hip, Three Days Grace, Hedley, and more recently Bachman- Turner.

It is safe to assume that the festival will come to a close, with the concert taking place Saturday July 2nd.

At this point it is unclear who will play the festival, though many are hoping The Hip will make an appearance, though they are playing Toronto the night before.

The big question is, who would you like to see play the event this year?
