Discussion: Will U2 bring the iconic 360 stage to Moncton with them?

Here we are, 4 days away from what could be the biggest concert announcement in Atlantic Canada’s history. The biggest band in the world, U2 is set to be announced to ROCK Moncton July 30th. The press conference is set, DKD WILL be in Moncton on Monday. The rumour we’ve been reporting for so long is finally set to turn reality!

As Moncton hotel operators might put it regarding July 30th “Theres no room, no space to rent in this town!”.

The big question on all of our minds, is how U2 may be planning their stage setup. Will they bring their iconic 360 stage to Moncton? Or will their be a different stage?

When U2 designed their stage for the tour in support of “No Line On the Horizon”, they wanted to create a stage experience that could be viewed from all sides, potentially even adding 20% more space to venues for concertgoers. A win-win situation I think. Due to the stage design, football stadiums were preferred rather than large fields or a baseball stadium for example, though they played some of these during the tour.

I have a feeling that there may be a more traditional stage, as U2 could not put their 360 stage on a hill, as this could cause bad sight lines for some fans, which U2 has always said they don’t have a desire for, as obviously that was a promise with the 360 stage. Things may be different here.

What do you think U2 will do with regards to staging?
