Ian Fowler comments on U2 Rumours.

As I expected, Ian Fowler, the general manager of the City of Moncton’s Economic Development, Tourism and Culture has made a statement regarding the U2 rumours. As consistent with other years, he has said that as of this moment “the city has no concert contracts in place for the summer of 2011”

“As usual, we will make no comments about any of the negotiations we might be in,” Fowler said, also saying he wanted to remind everyone that when any event at the hill, the Moncton Coliseum or the new Moncton track stadium is planned, it is not the city’s place to make announcements on behalf of promoters.

Comments like these are not unheard of, as they were breathed a lot before the AC/DC concert, which took place in 2009, was announced. Due to this, I don’t see any reason to be discouraged on U2 performing this summer.
