No Magnetic Hill show this summer. Report.

Sad news to wake up to on a Tuesday Morning. Sources have told us that Magnetic Hill will not play host to a mega concert this summer. Something the hill has been accustomed to since the Rolling Stones rocked 85,000 people at the site in 2005. AC/DC blew the roof off the stage last August and attracted 75,000. The Eagles and several other Country Artists have played the venue.

The cancellation of the 2010 event is presumed to be brought on by a sporting event which is being held from mid July to Mid August. This event has snapped up many of the accommodations in Moncton. I suppose promoters just decided it would not be feasible to host a concert this year, as lack of accommodations would cut into ticket sales.

While it was reported a couple of months ago that there were many proposals in place including a proposal from evenko, none were ever signed and accepted.

Obviously, it is still possible that a Labour Day concert could happen, but this seems very unlikely according to sources. Tom Petty could be available around that time, and Roger Waters could potentially start his tour early. We’ll just have to see.

It looks like Halifax will be the major player this year, as they have secured the Black Eyed Peas. plus another unannounced act, presumed to be John Mellencamp, which will be announced later this week.

With this news, lets begin looking forward, who would you like to see perform in 2011? If there is no concert this year, Moncton definitely needs a big bang next year! Discuss it in the Forums and the Comments section of this article.
