Rocker JOHN MELLENCAMP has announced a short Canadian Tour with three dates- Two in Orilla ON From July 13-14 and July 15th in Windsor ON. This will also include a festival visit in Cadott, WI.
This says to me that there is a very high chance Mellencamp may rock Halifax. Sources say he is signed to play opening night of Halifax Rocks 2010 which will also have a second night featuring Black Eyed Peas on July 24th, which was announced two weeks ago.
Even before the Canada Tour announcement, there were several rumours of a Canadian tour. The dates of the tour fit perfectly around Halifax Rocks.
Promoter Harold MacKay further added speculation of Mellencamp when he stated the rock show would take aim to an “older crowd” as many believe thats who he appeals to. I expect to see many young people show up too however.
An announcement is expected any day now, including ticket details and other acts. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: A reliable source has indicated that a “major rock concert” may be announced on Halifax Radio station Q104 later this week. I have reason to believe that this would most likely be the July 23rd show.
