Dutch Mason Blues Festival reveals 2014 lineup; Monster Truck, Rick Derringer and more

The Dutch Mason Blues Festival has officially revealed it’s lineup for the 10th anniversary festival.

FULL LINE-UP: 11 East Coast artists still to be announced! Ticket info and more coming soon!

FRIDAY AUGUST 8TH

Canadian supergroup MONSTER TRUCK will be a featured headliner on Friday, August 8th at the 10th Annual Dutch Mason Blues Festival. The band won the 2013 Juno Award for ‘Breakthrough Group of the Year’. Their singles “Seven Seas Blues”, “Sweet Mountain River” and “Righteous Smoke” became runaway hits reaching Top 10 on Canadian radio.

We are proud to present an encore headline appearance by Rock and Blues legend, RICK DERRINGER. He was just 17 when his band The McCoys recorded the No.1 hit “Hang On Sloopy” in the summer of 1965. Derringer merged his talents with Johnny Winter in 1969 and was the only producer of all gold and platinum Winter Brothers recordings. Derringer joined Edgar Winter’s ‘White Trash’ full-time and produced the gold LP, “Roadwork”. Derringer’s first solo album, ‘All American Boy’ was released in 1973, featuring the hit single “Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo”. The year 2013 marked the 40th anniversary of Rick Derringer’s debut solo album ‘All American Boy’, and also his long journey of successes as producer, songwriter, and player throughout the years.

We are excited to present a very special appearance by the legendary Canadian icon FRANK MARINO, vocalist, guitarist and leader of MAHOGANY RUSH. Often compared to Jimi Hendrix, Marino is acknowledged as one of the best (and most underrated) guitarists of the 1970s. With 30 Albums under his belt, Marino is still active. He has been involved in blues recordings with other artists as well, playing on tribute albums to Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

SATURDAY AUGUST 9TH

We are very proud to once again have our international Festival Ambassador blues legend, JAMES COTTON, join us Saturday, August 9th to help us celebrate our 10th YEAR ANNIVERSARY. A “true living legend of the Blues,” James Cotton’s latest milestone furthers what has already been an outstanding year for the legendary harpist since the release of his newest CD, Cotton Mouth Man. The Blues Foundation announced the nominees for the 2014 Blues Music Awards, and Grammy Award-winning harmonica master (and 2014 Grammy nominee) James Cotton received a total of five nominations including Album Of the Year for 2013′s Cotton Mouth Man, Song Of The Year for He Was There from the same album, Traditional Blues Album, Traditional Male Artist, and Instrumentalist – Harmonica.

We are also very proud to present DOYLE BRAMHALL II. As one of our featured headliners, he stands apart as one of the most distinctive vocalists, guitarists, composers and producers in contemporary music. Eric Clapton, with whom Bramhall II has collaborated for more than a decade, cites the guitarist as one of the most gifted players he has ever encountered. In addition to Clapton, Bramhall II has been in demand as composer, guitarist and producer, collaborating with such as artists as Roger Waters, Sheryl Crow, Elton John, Gary Clark Jr., Gregg Allman and many others.

Responsible for co-founding two phenomenally popular, multi-platinum super groups, Santana and Journey, our featured headliner of the night is world class keyboardist-vocalist-producer GREGG ROLIE. He was inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall Of Fame as part of the original Santana band. His singing talents will forever be immortalized by his unforgettable lead vocals on classic Santana greatest hits including “Black Magic Woman” “Evil Ways” and the Tito Puente composition “Oye Como Va”. Get ready for an unforgettable performance by Gregg Rolie, with original members from Santana Band.

Canadian Juno and Maple Blues award winning artist, PAUL DESLAURIERS, will be presented Saturday afternoon, along with our special afternoon headliner ROYAL SOUTHERN BROTHERHOOD, featuring Cyril Neville, Devon Allman and Mike Zito. Before they even hit a chord, Royal Southern Brotherhood will have your attention. In the US South, where music is religion, two rock ‘n’ roll bloodlines tower above all others. In the saloon bars from Mississippi to Maryland, mere mention of the Allman and Neville Brothers casts a magic spell.

SUNDAY AUGUST 10TH

We are very proud to be presenting Canadian Juno and Maple Blues award winning group MONKEY JUNK, an Ottawa-based trio consisting of Steve Marriner, Tony D and Matt Sobb, who, in their relatively short 6 year existence have cultivated a unique blend of Swamp Roots Rock. Their extensive touring has helped to develop this award winning group a notable fan base across Canada, the US and Europe.

Featuring modern blues with a hell of an edge, HEAD OF THE HERD is one of the most talk about bands in Canada. Their singles “By This Time Tomorrow” and “Knock Me Down” has taken them on and beyond radio, being featured in Rip Curl and well as GT Bikes/Red Bull videos online. Their debut single “Ain’t My Day” has been played on radio throughout Canada and online, with a video by acclaimed director Luke Hansen-MacDonald. And recently, Billabong has used their chilling tale of “Erinyes” for their Damn AM TV show.

Canadian Blues Rocker DAVID WILCOX will be featured in an encore headline appearance to help close out our 10th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION. Wilcox is a brilliant song writer, a great singer, and one of the hottest guitar players in the world. After more than twenty years in the business – including extensive touring, 5 gold & platinum albums, numerous awards, and winning fans everywhere – it’s no stretch to say that David Wilcox deserves icon status. His life in music is the stuff of legend.
