AC/DC issues statement on Malcolm Young health, insists the band will continue to make music

Following days of strong speculation and reports of AC/DC’s imminent demise due to Malcolm Young’s health, the band have issued a statement.

The announcement explains that the group will continue to make music despite an extended hiatus.

“After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health. Malcolm would like to thank the group’s diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support.

In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family’s privacy be respected during this time. The band will continue to make music.” the band explained on their Facebook page.

Prior to this announcement, the band had announced plans for a 40th anniversary tour, as well as a new studio album to begin recording in May.

At this stage, it’s unclear whether the band will pursue these projects with other musicians.

AC/DC released “Black Ice” in 2008 and toured extensively including a stop in Moncton in 2009.

We at Atlantic Canada Rocks wish Mr. Young a speedy recovery and can’t wait to see AC/DC on the road again.
