Along with this Thursday storm, whispers of yet another major concert for Halifax are “free falling” on the city like rain drops (and maybe a few power lines?)
Extremely reliable sources close to Atlantic Canada Rocks have hinted that Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will be performing in Halifax this Spring. The show will be announced Monday.
The show is said to be taking place at the Halifax Metro Centre in the early-mid Spring timeframe, ACR has been told. However, a few have speculated that Tom Petty would be an amazing outdoor summer performance. Producing the show will be David Carver, a Newfoundland born concert promoter now living in California.
Carver is known for producing shows such as Aerosmith in PEI, as well as the Goo Goo Dolls last year. A source in his home province has confirmed that Carver will “most definitely be bringing Tom Petty to Atlantic Canada in 2012.”
This lines up with a report from a few days ago that Carver would be making a “major” announcement for Halifax in the “next week or so”. News of the announcement has since been confirmed on Carver’s website.
ACR has also been told that tickets would go on sale in the Friday/Saturday(Dec 16/17) timeframe through the Ticket Atlantic network.
At this point, an exact date is unclear. It is also unknown whether this arena tour will bring him to other cities in Atlantic Canada.
Petty has confirmed his first date of 2012 for Europe’s Isle of Wight Festival in June.

3:15pm UPDATE: Multiple sources are now pointing to a June 3rd date for the show.
10:00pm UPDATE: Further sources have confirmed that Petty will perform at the Mile One Centre in St John’s NFLD. The exact date is unclear but it will most likely be a couple of days after the Halifax show on the 5th or 6th. Stay tuned!
