Sarah had the opportunity to chat with Country music recording artist, Alessia Cohle fresh off her newest EP, “Wild Eyed Wanderer.”
With a focus on travel and freedom, Wild Eyed Wanderer inspires listeners to take a leap of faith and explore and the VIA Rail Artist On-Board program fit perfectly the theme of her latest offering. VIA Rail offers complimentary fare for professional musicians in return for performing on board Toronto-Vancouver and Toronto-Halifax routes.
“While writing this collection of songs what was foremost in my mind was ensuring the lyrics and the music emulate my truth and express who I am as an artist,” says Cohle. “I’m so excited for this EP because the music on it really captures my rock and soul music influences, which are definitely what I want to convey and share with listeners this time around.”
Since her breakthrough single, “Sunday Shoes” in 2015, Cohle has won the hearts of country music fans nationwide. In 2016, Cohle released her first full-length FACTOR- funded album Talk To Mecontaining the radio singles, “How Bad” and “Talk To Me”. For the past two years, Cohle has reached a wider audience, performing at Canadian Country Music Week in 2016 and 2017 where she shared the stage with artists like Aaron Pritchett and Meghan Patrick; opened up for Brett Kissel on his 2017 Ice, Snow & 30 Below tour; at various Ontario music festivals; and on a promotional tour through Atlantic Canada for “Talk To Me.” Cohle was named in the “Top 30 New Artists Countdown” for 12 weeks and was featured on KX96’s Hot 30 Countdown.
Cohle enjoys sharing her love for music with others, winning the prestigious Ron Lenyk “Inspiring Youth” Arts Award in 2017 for her contributions to the Mississauga music community. She also works closely with other charitable organizations such as Sick Kids Foundation, Tikko Travels and Kids Now Canada’s anti-bullying program.
