Matt Mays and July Talk will kick off the new year with a couple of arena dates in Halifax and Fredericton.
The concerts will take place at the Currie Center in Fredericton on Friday, Jan. 19 and the Scotiabank Centre Concert Bowl in Halifax on Saturday, Jan. 20. Special guest for both shows is Toronto’s The Beaches.
“Matt Mays released his sixth studio album, Once Upon a Hell of a Time, on Oct. 20. Five years and a handful of locales in the making; starting with the LA studio once owned by Elliott Smith and with sessions at The Farm Studios in Vancouver, The Sonic Temple in Halifax, The Boiler Room in New York and Breakglass Studios in Montreal, the bulk of the album was recorded with co-producer Loel Campbell (Wintersleep) during a two-month period in Montreal during the summer of 2016. Among the albums 13 tracks are “Faint of Heart” and “NYC Girls”. Mays’ last album Coyote (2012) took home the 2014 JUNO Award for Rock Album of the Year.” organizers Sonic Concerts said in a Monday release.
Joining Mays for these dates will be July Talk, who have wowed fans in Atlantic Canada with their energetic festival and club performances over the past few years.
“Known for their explosive live performances, July Talk return to the east coast after selling out shows throughout Atlantic Canada, including Fredericton and Halifax, earlier this year. The band’s latest album, Touch, includes the gold certified first single “Push + Pull”, which held the number one spot at radio for 12 weeks, “Picturing Love”, “Beck + Call”, and the recently released single, “Lola + Joseph”.” Sonic continued.
