An Interview With Deric Ruttan

Here is my interview with CBMF Fan Favorite and CBMF Three-time performer, Deric Ruttan!

SM: Welcome back to PEI!!! It’s always such a pleasure to see you play when you come here! It’s obvious you love to play live. Your energy is so contagious and the audience really connects with that. Was that your inspiration in creating your live album, “Up All Night! Deric Ruttan Live?”
DR: Yes. I love the musicians I work with, all the same! The stage chemistry is insane!

SM: Something you’re well known for is your songwriting. You have a true talent for it. Your range can go from high octane, to pulling at heart strings. What inspires your to write this way?
DR: I just really love music and I love to write. The writing can come from anywhere really.

SM: With that being said, who are YOUR musical influences?
DR: John Fogerty, Steve Earle (I would Love to duet with him) and of course the great Gordon Lightfoot.

SM: With your new album coming out soon, what can fans expect?
DR: A lot of the same. I have been writing like crazy! I have written about 80/90 songs. It’s gonna be big as it’s my first studio album since ‘Sunshine”. I can say that the songs will be strong songs and more aggressive! New single will be out August 5th

SM: Will you be doing a big tour (AKA. Coming back to Atlantic Canada)?
DR: Stay tuned!
