No doubt Petty will rock Halifax St. John's NFLD in the Spring, promoter says

Hours after ACR broke the story that Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers would rock Halifax in 2012, concert promoter David Carver confirmed the show in an interview with Metro News Halifax.

Of Tom Petty’s plans to rock Atlantic Canada, Carver told Metro News. “There’s no doubt about that.”.

Carver also confirmed that the music legend would play St. John’s NFLD.

“Carver confirmed to Metro Halifax on Thursday night the group will be playing two shows next spring in Atlantic Canada – one at the Metro Centre and the other at Mile One Stadium in St. John’s.” says the article.

Carver mentioned that exact dates are unconfirmed, though he tells the publication that the shows would take place in “late May or early June.”

Independent sources close to Atlantic Canada Rocks say that the Halifax date will take place on June 3rd.

Specifically referring to the Halifax show, Carver told the paper “I know it will sell out.”

When asked about the choice for an indoor show, the promoter alluded to the time of year for the event. “If it was later in the year, I’d be hoping to do the show outdoors somewhere. But because it’s late May or early June, the Metro Centre is the place to do it.” Carver said to Metro.

While a specific date of announcement was not mentioned when Carver spoke with the newspaper, his website continues to mention concert news set for Monday.

Our own sources also indicate that the concert will go on sale on the 16th or 17th of December.
