The rumours are true! As ACR first reported three weeks ago, Metallica will be rocking Citadel Hill in Halifax on July 14th, and music lovers are ecstatic.
Concert promoter Harold MacKay today officially announced that the “Rock The Hill” festival will take place on the Halifax Garrison Grounds this July.
“We are pleased to announce that a music festival called Rock the Hill will be held on the Halifax Garrison Grounds on July 14th 2011 and we are extremely excited to announce that the headline artist will be one of the most influential rock bands of all time – Metallica.” said MacKay.
Before the sky “Fades to Black”, fans will be treated to the sounds of Cole Harbour’s own Matt Mays, Ontario progressive metal band Protest the Hero, South Africa’s Seether, and New York group Coheed & Cambria.
The event will also feature a “clash of the bands” contest which will give an Atlantic Canadian band a chance to showcase their talent in front of the Halifax crowd of 30,000.
“Halifax will be the first stop following their (Metallica’s) European tour and the only one in Atlantic Canada. We anticipate that Rock the Hill 2011 will be the biggest event ever held on the Halifax Garrison Grounds and with a capacity of 30,000 this show will be a sell-out event” continued Mr. MacKay.
Metallica has sold over 100 million albums worldwide and has won 9 Grammy Awards.
The Los Angeles based heavy metal band features James Hetfield on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Lars Ulrich on the drums, Kirk Hammett on lead guitar and Robert Trujillo on bass.
TIckets for Rock the Hill 2011 go on sale on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 12:00 noon. Tickets will be available at www.rockthehill.ca or they can be ordered by phone at 1-877-569-7767. Tickets can also be purchased at participating Needs stores throughout the Maritimes.
